Parents Weekend 2009: October 2-4!

Parents Weekend 2009 is October 2-4. This is a wonderful opportunity to actually see your student once he or she has gone off to college. The student has been at UNL long enough to be able to tell you how things are going, what classes are like, where classes are located and update you on new friends that have been made. You can see for yourself how things are going and visit the student's residence hall room. We know it is sometimes hard to actually see your student once he or she goes off to college - so this is a weekend set aside specifically to give you a chance to catch up. During the weekend, you will have an opportunity to do some fun activities as a family, meet other University families, visit with some faculty and staff and learn a little more about the University. We hope you will be able to join us.

For Saturday evening with Dinner on your own, Lincoln has many very good restaurants. Ask your student what his or her favorites are. Here are a few suggestions that are popular that are close to campus:
Visit the Lincoln Convention and Visitors Bureau for information on more local restaurants.
Parking for Parents Weekend 2009: Due to construction on campus this year, we have worked with UNL Parking Services to find a replacement parking area for UNL Parents Weekend 2009 participants. With their permission, parents may park in the Stadium Parking Garage (City Campus Map; you can see the Stadium on the left side of the map and the parking garage is to the left of it.) When you check-in for Parents Weekend 2009 in the Nebraska Union (approximately 14th and R Street shown toward the bottom center of the map), you will receive a parking permit. Keep the permit with you and when you leave the parking garage on Friday evening, give your permit to the parking attendant. For Saturday and Sunday, Parents Weekend 2009 participants will park in the same parking garage, but permits will not be needed for these two days.
FAQ
Attire: Comfortable. We know many people are traveling to attend Parents Weekend, and we want you to be comfortable and relaxed for the Weekend. So please dress comfortably and wear good walking shoes. The weather in Nebraska can be unpredictable. So, while we will hope for nice weather, you are encouraged to bring a jacket and an umbrella - just in case. We encourage everyone to show their Husker spirit and wear their Husker red!
